Attending at concert at the Benedict Music Tent

In 2015, Michael was a Composition Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School. While there he had several works performed, including his I was the shadow of the waxwing slain with cellist Zlatomir Fung and pianist Tengku Irfan. An early version of Eastern Point was workshopped by the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen orchestra.

Michael made many lasting friendships at Aspen with players and composers. In 2017, several of the Aspen composers from the summer of 2015 reunited to create Circling the Waves with violinist Michiko Theurer. Michiko had been a member of the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble in 2015.
