PRISM enters Official Specialist Classical Charts at #17
Fenella Humphreys’ 4th solo violin album, including Michael’s Prism as its title track, has sold spectacularly well and entered the Official Specialist Classical Charts at #17.
You can listen here on Spotify, or order a physical copy from any good record supplier.
I could not be prouder to have a piece on this exquisite album - in my piece as in other pieces, Fenella’s sound is both delicate, and clear as a bell throughout, bringing a very special and haunting half-lit color to the music. Each of the new pieces feels like its own self-contained world, all of them richly imagined, colorful, and dialoguing animatedly with the older works on the album. As the album is based on music Fenella was gifted or learned during lockdown, Fenella’s own arrangements inventively rethink classic keyboard works and thus offer new insights into classics like Debussy’s La fille aux cheveux de lin, Schumann’s Träumerei, and J.S. Bach’s Toccata in D Minor. The acoustics are simply superb, thanks to Rubicon Classics’ excellent engineering - I can highly recommend this music to be listened to with a pair of high-fidelity headphones, preferably in the dark for a fully immersive experience!
